Today is the day! I woke up a tad before breakfast started so I could get there before the rush and drink the guava juice. They ran out yesterday. Then I checked out, packed up my last thing and walked to the termine centrale. I hopped in the coach bus and rode to the airport. The sky was clear and I could see the mountains outline the Mediterranean as beautiful as ever. I love airports in Europe. Everyone is so chill and the security check is always a breeze (except when they confiscated my nail filer in Malta but we don't talk about that). When I was waiting for the plane to arrive, I read the come follow me for the week, listened to my iTunes which threw me back to middle school, and just sat and thought. It was super chill. I love chill days. Then the plane arrived and as we boarded, I prayed intensely because Ryan Air makes me anxious. You never know if the people are going to be super anal about you bag size. But I made it and slept most of the flight. Their landing is also pretty sketch though, and there's always the one child who cries as we fall from the sky. Gotta love a $20 flight amiright?
Now I'm finally in Madrid (Alcalá to be exact), the land of my dreams since I was 10 with almost no money to my name. This is an incredible life.
I met my profe's family, settled into our beautiful dorms, had dinner (featuring the best melon of my life), talked w my awesome roomie Mica. We clicked right off the bat so I'm stoked. And went to the store to get soap and femme products w Mica and Jackie. I took the best shower I've had in awhile and this place has AC! I'm living a dream.
Solo traveling
Pros: saying 'dang I did that' when it's over, good stories to tell
Grateful for: dreams coming true, the dorms at UAH, dining hall, pen pals, new adventures
