We watched the sunrise in the desert and had an early morning camel ride away from the Algerian border. When we made it back to civilization some what, we said adios to Alberto, Maria, and Karima.

Now we rode in a new car with the same Dutch friends.

We were waiting forever for girl from Mexico. Never be late for your one ride out of the middle of nowhere. It was pretty awkward because she annoyed us before we officially met her.

For lunch we had Couscous for 3, a three course meal for 80dh. Our driver was constantly on phone. He had a list on his phone of all the people he was going to call. It was crazy. He really had business. As we kept driving we saw a Swiss village, and if you would've told me we were driving through Banff I would've believed you. There were wild sheep and tons of evergreens. It was amazing.

I realized something about the lifestyle here and how it seeps into tourism. Everything is very organized here but we aren't used to not being told what is happening all the time. We like constant affirmation and being at places on the dot. We were being handed off to a new person so often, but I still trusted that they knew what they were doing.

We made it to Fes in the early evening. We met Azedine's older bro Ottoman who brought us to another guy who carried our bags and along the street we met the queen, Zoubida. The sweetest woman ever. She spoke Arabic, French and English like most people here and told us her names means Butter. She called us her Flowers. We had another mint green tea incident. But it was okay because we made just plain mint tea later.

This Airbnb was a palace though. From the old mdina street it just looked like a lame tiny door but when you walked in, it was like one of those tents in Harry Potter.

Zoubida arranged for our rides to meet us for tomorrow and walked us to the blue gate. That was enough medina for us so we headed back.

I said bye to Emily and 'Ana because they were leaving at the butt crack of dawn.

Grateful they did this with me because otherwise I would be sad and scared.
